A POLYNESIANS SUCCESS

"when you're up, offer someone else a hand"

Talofa my hunny bunnies and welcome to this weeks blog with ya favourite pretty face, Lia! This week we are addressing more grey topics in the Polynesian community, a topic very familiar to our lips but not addressed as often as it should be.

Everyone wants to be successful. Don't lie. Even you. Whether its employment, education, weight loss, making music, making a music video (ahem chunior), everyone wants to be successful. The people who you surround yourself with, the people that you allow to have a say in your life will influence your decisions and can possibly determine whether you succeed or not. Am i right? Well yeah.

In the "normal" world, when you see a friend or family member moving closer to their goals, meeting new potentials, doing better than before, you would hype them up, gas em up, cheer them on,  place them on a podium because that's just what human beings do. They support one another. Boast for one another. So why is it, that in the Polynesian society, more so Samoan society, we do the opposite? Jealousy? Hatred? Fia Aikae? Maybe! Every other culture would be like " yasss that's my mate, up up up, bigger better stronger" and then you have our community "she's only successful because her parents have lots of money", "she doesn't even work so how can she afford all of that", "she's got a good voice but i have heard better". Like SHUT UP. Its disgusting and childish.

By no means do i intend on making this blog full of hatred but more so, frustration because its become a "thing" for Polynesians to push other people down in order to make them selves higher. When you see the people around you heading up, instead of bringing them to your low level, maybe you should try heading up. Do something in your life that will make you value sacrifices. Do something in your life to better yourself. If you see it as competition, then so be it, but at the same time, when you're up, offer someone else a hand getting up. There is no point in reaching for the top if there is no one there to stand with you. Saó pe Saó? This is what we are about, Samoa mo Samoa.

When ever you find yourself getting jealous or even dirty envious of someone else who is changing their life, MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR OWN. Wanna lose weight? Put down the pack of chips and go to zumba hunny. Wanna teach yourself to be a better vocalist? Practise, take classes, watch the Greatest Showman over and over again. Wanna be gun at driving like me? Go and take your dads car keys and practise on a dirt track, where there are no trees, kids or buildings. Wanna be smart? Take your damn earphones out during class and put that pen to the paper. Wanna make a music video, call JNR (also check out his instagram @jnrmusic_). Its is simple < oh yeah mad English. It is simple.

People only drag others down because
- reminds them that they have goals but are too lazy to work towards them.
and that's about. which is sad. for you. Take me for example, i never thought that id be a hot, sexy gal but here i am, 10/10! AHAHAHAH WHAT A JOKER (but for real, dm me ;).

Your friends, family, colleagues are heading up? Join them, Support them. Compete with them. This is a race to be your personal best. In all seriousness though, spread love and light and not your infectious hatred. Stay groovy!
